Program Levels
-
For beginners just starting out on their figure skating journey, we offer IntroStar and Junior Star. At this level, Skate Canada recommends skaters skate at least twice a week.
IntroStar
For skaters working on CanSkate Stage 5 up to STAR 2, IntroStar gives you or your child full-time coaching in the fundamentals of figure skating, in groups of 6 or less, with experienced coaches, at an all-inclusive price similar to CanSkate. At $799 for 26 weeks and $419 for each additional session, IntroStar is the best deal going! See our Cost Estimator below for details. (Note: CanSkate Stage 4 badge and figure skates required.)
Adult IntroStar
Our IntroStar program scaled for adult bodies and needs. If you wish to skate more than once a week, you may join other IntroStar sessions.
Junior Star
Junior Star is for figure skaters who have passed CanSkate Stage 6 (see IntroStar) and are working on STAR levels 1-3 of Freeskate, Skills, and/or Dance with a private coach. Use our cost comparison below, to estimate your total costs.
Skaters at this level are working on improving simple 1-foot turns, spins, single jumps, and introductory dances. They may also be introduced to a choreographed solo to be skated at exhibitions and/or competitions.
We encourage all Junior Star Skaters to skate at least twice a week in order to maximize progress. Junior Star Skaters may also wish to continue with IntroStar, which can help reduce overall coaching costs. IntroStar registrations count toward Star combo discounts.
Note: all skaters in Junior Star require a private coach. If you don’t yet have one, IntroStar includes coaching in the fee, with a range of coaches, giving you the opportunity to find one that fits! Alternatively, contact our Skating Director to discuss your needs.

Program Fees + Coaching Cost Comparison
Star programs like Junior, Intermediate, and Senior require you to arrange for private coaching. This cost is paid directly by you, and is in addition to your program fees. Coaching-included programs like IntroStar and Group programs can help reduce the cost of learning to figure skate.
Use our cost comparison to see how IntroStar and other group classes stack up against private coaching options. Private coaches set their own rates, and those rates range from $20/hr up to $72/hr, depending on the coach. Some coaches will offer small group instruction (2 or 3 skaters) which can help reduce the cost. Set the effective hourly rate to see how it stacks up.
Price estimates based on:
- program fees with combo pricing
- private coaching for Star: minutes at $ per hour for weeks
- group classes per week
- off-ice sessions per week
Estimates are approximate and will become less and less accurate as the season progresses.
